This is an old photograph of my Lincoln grandparents. John Wesley Lincoln and Isabelle Deem are shown in this family portrait along with my dad’s only sister, Lulu. My dad is in the back row on the right.
Dwight’s house burned down while he was away. When he came home, his world had dwindled to one. Himself, the clothes on his back and lots of questions. His life was almost over but he still had some beef cattle in the fields and those would be his focus of attention. And then, like the candy store closed down, his cattle got sick and died after eating some contaminated feed. Now, there was nothing left. His old time friend, Bob Schaar, living in Florida, offered him a place to stay and Dwight took it. He lives on Schaar’s old farmstead west of town.
Electrocuted squirrel grabbed a hot wire and somehow grounded himself which electrocuted him instantly. His body hung in the breeze for several days, perhaps a week or more, with his hand or foot clutching the hot wire. Nothing bothered him while he hung there. I assumed they would have got the shock of their life if they had.
